It was 7 Australia’s “Sunrise” program that asked the question on many people’s minds about the split between Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage: How hard did the pair work to keep their marriage together?

“I think when you know so deep in your heart that you just have to listen to your intuition and follow your heart, there’s no right or wrong thing to do, so I really believe that,” Kardashian said in response to the question on Thursday’s “Sunrise” morning show in Australia.

“I don’t think I’m ready to get into the details of it,” Kardashian continued, dodging the question of whether she and Humphries tried counseling. “I think what really upsets me most is there has been, from the start, so many rumors of money and dollar signs of all these things thrown up in the air ... and so much of it not being true. It’s kind of what you get for living your life so publicly on a reality show. I get that ... but I think that also just teaches me I kind of want to step back a little bit.”

When asked if she plans to take some time alone, Kardashian said she would — in the future.

“Of course I do want that time to be with myself and close friends and family,” she said. “I don’t think you ever prepare yourself for when that time is. So, I will get that time somewhere in the near future.”

Kardashian, who was accompanied by younger sister Khloe at the appearance to promote a Kardashians Australian-exclusive line of handbags, said she made the trip Down Under despite her circumstances to honor her commitment.

“I do want some time really to myself and it’s a really tough thing to go through, but I didn’t want to bail on everyone and kind of skip out on this commitment here,” she said.

“I’m really proud of Kim for not just bailing and canceling because this is a really hard time for her,” Khloe said. “She’s being really strong and Lamar [Odom] and I are here to be her support at this time.”
