It's not like we haven't been treated to passing glimpses of David Fincher's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" before. But today we finally get a more complete look at the highly anticipated film, and, well, color us compelled.

It's got everything we wanted — and saw flashes of before: it's stark. It's intense. It's Swedish. And, at least right now, it seems to live up to the already considerable hype it's generated for stars Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig.

Story: Trailer of the Week: Save 'The Muppets'! See this movie!

Released overnight (which is somehow fitting), the extended, nearly four-minute trailer (cut down from the nearly eight minutes of footage shown to press already) fills in all the story gaps missing from the exciting, though rather content-shy first teaser we got earlier this year.

And while anyone looking forward to this film is probably a fan of the books and therefore already aware of the intricacies of the plot, it's nice to see them set up and played out in the trailer. That, and marvel at all those accents. The film is due out Dec. 23.
