Days before the 7th Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative brings together leaders ranging from Pres. Barack Obama to Sting, Pres. Bill Clinton joins us Sunday to talk about the CGI. One of the main issues? Jobs, jobs, jobs. What does he think about Obama’s $447 billion jobs plan? And, as Republicans battle it out for the nomination, who does the seasoned campaigner see as the president’s toughest competition?
Then, President Obama is out pushing his jobs plan, but if he wants his bill to pass, he’s going to need Republican support. The GOP leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell says the president’s proposal to increase taxes is a nonstarter and that “It’s time to change course.” He’ll join us to talk about the president’s proposal and whether the two sides can come together to alleviate the jobs crisis. Plus, what does he think about the current crop of GOP candidates running for president?
And, the politics behind the president’s jobs plan: With the election on the horizon, both sides are unwilling to give an inch. Can Democrats unite behind the president’s plan and is it politically smart for Republicans to oppose it? Plus, the latest on the race for the White House in 2012. Joining us, Former Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D-MI), Republican strategist Alex Castellanos, Senior political analyst for TIME Magazine, Mark Halperin and NY Times White House Correspondent Helene Cooper.
