Who's paying for 'Teen Mom' Amber's rehab?

Portwood's brother tells E! that MTV is filming his sister at a Malibu recovery center

Amber Portwood is currently in rehab, and according to her brother, MTV is filming it.

At least Amber Portwood can just focus on her recovery without having to worry about footing the bill.

"I don't know who is paying for it," a source close to the "Teen Mom" star exclusively tells E! News. "All I know is that it's a lot and someone with money is paying."

Mysterious. Portwood, who's from Indiana, checked into Seasons Recovery Center in Malibu last month, two weeks after being hospitalized when authorities responded to a 911 call from Gary Shirley, in which he told the operator he was afraid Amber was going to try to commit suicide.

And Shirley's not the only one concerned these days.

Amber's brother, Shawn Portwood, tells us that MTV's cameras are chronicling his sister's rehab experience, which presumably will be woven into a "Teen Mom" narrative at some point.

"They filmed a scene where she and I talked on the phone the other day," Shawn says. "Her doctor and I do not agree with it, but there's nothing I can do."

But on a brighter note, Shirley flew to California with daughter Leah today to take part in family week at Seasons. Shawn says he'll be taking part in the reunion by phone.

'Teen Mom'
The original cast of "Teen Mom," from left, Farrah Abraham, Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout and Amber Portwood, found themselves featured in numerous tabloids after the docuseries debuted on MTV in December 2009. ("Teen Mom" is a spin-off of "16 and Pregnant," which all four originally appeared on.)

The media spotlight has focused mostly on Portwood, who pled guilty to felony domestic battery in June 2011 after a season two episode showed her repeatedly hitting ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley. 'Teen Mom 2'
After MTV's original "Teen Mom" (a spin-off of hit docuseries "16 and Pregnant") became a big success, the network launched a sister show to showcase four new young mothers, from left, Kailyn Lowry, Jenelle Evans, Leah Simms and Chelsea Houska.

'The Jersey Shore'

Singer Ashlee Simpson, sister to Jessica Simpson, saw her music career take off after her MTV series, "The Ashlee Simpson Show," debuted in June 2004, when she was just 19. Her album dropped a month later and debuted at No. 1 in sales.

The first season focused on her writing and recording process, while the second took a look at her life living with two of her friends. It also featured her famous "Saturday Night Live" performance, during which her vocals started playing before she began singing. The show ended after the second season.
