Harry Potter's the No. 1 guy in J.K. Rowling's series, no doubt about it. That's why his name is in the title of every book and movie.

But Harry aside, we wanted to know which characters resonated most with viewers and readers. Sure, Hermione and Ron get a lot of attention, but our readers had a variety of nominations. Here are just a few.

Story: Harry Potter films were indeed magical

SNAPE
"Why? As horrible as he is ... as terrible as he is ... the further the story goes on, you learn who Snape truly is. The character sacrificed so much, did so much good — yet takes no credit. You hate him all the way to the bitter end, and then just when you think he's pure evil himself — you learn the shocking truth about who Snape truly is. He is a complex and tragic character. Of the characters in the Potter series, he is truly dedicated to his work — and never falters with his role — all the way to the bitter end. Snape is an expertly crafted character, that is why he stands out above and beyond the others."    --Kwan

RON
"Ron's endearing friendship and memorable faces have a special place in my heart. One of my favorite Ron moments was his clumsy, yet ever so effective try-out for Gryffindor keeper."  --Catherine

HERMIONE
"She was the glue that held together the story. She had the intellect, the constant loyalty and love for both Ron and Harry. If there had been no Hermione, I don't think Harry would have constantly succeeded against Voldermort."  --Debbie

NEVILLE
"I have read all 7 books a number of times and he is one of the characters who has grown up and was the defender of Hogwarts and the killer of Voldemort's snake — Nagini. His gillyweed helps Harry and his love of herbology shows boys it is not feminine to love gardening. He is a true friend to Harry and his parents are still barely alive from Bellatrix's curse. He ends up being a teacher at the school we all wish we can attend. He gets to come back and stay to teach the future students. He comes into his own and grows up and shows us not to be afraid of the fear and to just face it. The final book brings Neville into his own from the 2nd book when he stands up to Harry, Ron and Hermione. His grandmother comes to Hogwarts to fight in the end alongside of her grandson. He would make his mother and father proud."  --Mary

Story: Harry Potter is entertainment champ of world

FRED AND GEORGE
"Fred and George Weasley would win based purely on their departure from Hogwarts in book 5 the rest of their exploits only serve to pad their lead. Next up would be Neville Longbottom who showed the biggest transformation from book one to book seven."  --Anonymous

ALL OF THEM
"Who can say who the real soul of the series is? I think you can see yourself in at least a few characters. Others are personalities that we despise (Umbridge). Hermione was the voice of reason. Ron was the best friend who had his moments of conflict. Luna had moments of brilliance. Hagrid was the guy who always rooted and stood up for you. I could go on about the characters in the book."  --Jennifer
