Harrison Ford has a beef with Shia LaBeouf.

The aging action star admits to taking his younger protege to task for giving 2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" a so-so review last year.

Let's just say the latter would probably have rather been buried in the Well of Souls than hear this.

"I think I told him he was a f-----g idiot," a typically gruff Ford tells Details in its cover story of LaBeouf, who returns to theaters this weekend in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon."

The unseemly comment came after Ford was asked about the conversation he and Shia had after the latter made headlines at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival when he told the press that he blames himself and director Steven Spielberg for botching "Indy 4" and that they collectively "dropped the ball. "

"As an actor, I think it's my obligation to support the film without making a complete ass of myself," the 68-year-old actor adds. "Shia is ambitious, attentive and talented—and he's learning how to deal with a situation which is very unique and difficult."

Shia LaBeouf talks hooking up with Megan Fox

LaBeouf contradicts that account, telling the magazine that in private Ford actually commended him for speaking his mind about the long-awaited sequel.

Considering Ford's long and close friendship with Spielberg and the other member of the "Indiana Jones" triumvirate, George Lucas, Shia is heeding that fatherly advice, though he also confessed he has a habit of being too honest when the situation calls for more tact.

"I got lambasted for that, and understandably so," said LaBeouf.

Glad he's gotten the message. Now perhaps he and Ford can crack the whip and get that long-rumored "Indiana Jones 5" up and running so they can restore everyone's favorite archaeologist to franchise fortune and glory.
