Although Julie Taymor was ousted from "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," Bono says she's a genius and he and The Edge were privileged to work with her.

Bono and The Edge, who wrote the music and lyrics for the $70 million Broadway musical, previewed the "Spider-Man" soundtrack Thursday night. The soundtrack will be released Tuesday, the day of the show's official opening.

Story: Fired 'Spider-Man' director seeks royalties

"Spider-Man" was set to open last year, but there were injuries, creative problems and scathing early reviews during previews. The opening was delayed several times, and Taymor, its director and lead visionary, was fired.

Bono says Taymor is brilliant, adding that perhaps she was so wrapped up in the show, she got tired and "couldn't see it."
