Video: Oops! Snooki crashes into Italian police car

  1. Closed captioning of: Oops! Snooki crashes into Italian police car

    >> filming in florence and snooki is making a big bang a after crashing into a police car . michelle kosinski has the details from florence . good morning.

    >> reporter: hi, meredith. it seems the novelties of guidos and guidettes which you don't normally find in italy has worn off. they have a name for them which roughly translates to super idiots. they have had traffic tickets , got into a fistfight amongst themselves, angereded a college and now snooki's unfortunate brush -- yes, literally -- with the law. in what appears to be the move to end all, here in photo evidence from tmz, none other than snooki under stricture orders in italy to be good citizens somehow ended up smashing into the back of -- oh, no. [ screeching ]

    >> reporter: -- a police car .

    >> they're funny, but it's embarrassing.

    >> reporter: the two cops inside the squad car which may, according to reports, have been kindly escorting snooki and pal dina had cuts and bruises, were taken to hospital but were okay. so was even in the snooki car that ended up pinned between the cops and a wall. but they had some splainin' to do downtown. they were not arrested.

    >> well, no one expected anyone from " jersey shore " to be on their best behavior in italy . thank goodness no drugs or alcohol were involved in this particular incident.

    >> reporter: how does this happen? was it because dina was her wing man? or was snooki just looking for the beach again.

    >> where's the beach?

    >> right there.

    >> reporter: that was back in sweet home new jersey when snooki was arrested after a drunken outburst at the shore. italy has been a clean slate .

    >> we are not like this. we don't always get drunk.

    >> reporter: politicians tried to have them banned. the mayor finally just banned them from certain places as well as being filmed while drinking.

    >> snooki?

    >> snooki, she's a woman.

    >> reporter: he did seem big on one thing.

    >> it's very important to respect every law in italy and in florence .

    >> reporter: so far so good, other than three traffic tickets , a fistfight between ronny and the situation, a college issuing a warning to students to stay aafrom the gang and a cop car collision. they haven't knocked over priceless art works or sent the renaissance into reverse -- yet. the jersey super cafognes still holding their own in the mother land.

    >> reporter: mtv didn't respond, but the creator of the show says this is a simple spender bender. it turns out the gang has only a week so or left of filming in italy . how quickly they disappear. we can say many of their neighbors are counting the days, meredith.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and a fellow "Jersey Shore" cast member have been involved in a minor traffic accident in Italy.

The popular MTV reality show is filming its fourth season in Florence.

The network said in a statement late Monday that two cast members were involved in a crash. The statement said no alcohol was involved and no one was arrested. It provided no further details.

SallyAnn Salsano, executive producer at "Jersey Shore" production company 495, tells The Star-Ledger newspaper that the incident was "just a minor fender bender." She says the show is still filming.

Photos posted on celebrity gossip website TMZ.com show Polizzi and co-star Deena Nicole Cortese, apparently uninjured, sitting on the sidewalk after the crash.

The incident reportedly left Polizzi’s car stuck between the police vehicle and a wall, forcing Cortese to exit Snooki’s car through a window.

Polizzi was reportedly taken into custody following the incident, but it was not a formal arrest, a source connected with the production told TMZ.

The show's first and third season were set in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The second season sent the cast to Miami.
