Even with the pressure of having the world’s eyes fixed upon her, the Duchess of Cambridge showed up in spades Monday in wowing a crowd in London with her grace, poise and dazzling fashion sense.

Kate, her husband Prince William and her brother-in-law Prince Harry walked the red carpet at the “Night of Heroes” event at London’s Imperial War Museum, honoring members of Britain’s armed forces for heroism.
While William and Harry smiled and shook hands, Kate left no doubt she was the star of the evening — she was a vision in an elegant black velvet dress from the fashion house of the late designer Alexander McQueen — the same house that designed the wedding dress for her April nuptials.

As she watched William and Harry present awards to British soldiers, Kate, herself a military wife, teared up in hearing the soldiers’ stories of bravery.
Camilla Tominey, royal editor of London’s Sunday Express newspaper, told NBC News that Kate’s appearance Monday showed she is growing into her job as an ambassador not only to the royal family but to the country-at-large.

Charity big on Kate's list
That poise will certainly help at Kate throws herself into the charity work that’s long marked the royal family. She and William represent more than a dozen charities through several foundations, ranging from cancer and education funds to hospital groups and children’s charities.
The next big royal fundraiser comes next month, when William and Kate help host a screening of the new Steven Spielberg-directed film “War Horse. “ For those who want to get up close and personal with the Prince and the Duchess, they better start saving their pennies now — so-called “golden tickets” are fetching an eye-popping $15,000 apiece.
According to People.com, the couple will visit Centrepoint, a charity for the homeless, on Wednesday before heading to Norfolk to spend the Christmas holiday with the Queen at her country retreat, the Sandringham Estate.
