Pia Toscana, considered to be among the frontrunners to win this season of "American Idol," was eliminated on Thursday night.

The judges and the crowd on Thursday’s “American Idol” weren’t the only ones shocked and outraged by Pia Toscano’s elimination. Stars took to their Twitter accounts in droves in the hours following the news, sounding off on Thursday night’s results.

“Don’t have an IDOL habit, but how could the USA vote Pia off? I may be done for the season!” Tom Hanks wrote.

Actor Dax Shepard chimed in with, “This did not just happen!!! How??? I’m going to do something radical. I love you Pia!”

Ashton Kutcher gave Pia props, Tweeting, “Who are the people that vote on American idol? That’s just crazy! That Pia girl is dope! #almostcriminal”

Tom Hank’s wife, Rita Wilson, was in agreement with her fellow outraged stars, writing, “Was Pia punked ? How did she get voted off of American Idol? That is not OKAY!”

Despite her elimination, many kept their Tweets positive, focusing on the road ahead for the former contestant.

“Pia is so talented and beautiful! Wish her the best. I’m sure her career will be full of success!” “Dancing with the Stars” pro Cheryl Burke Tweeted.

Jessica Alba agreed, writing, “Who’s mad about Pia? I think she’s got a promising career ahead of her. Girl can sing her butt off and she’s stunning.”

The judges didn't take the cut from fans well. “I’m shocked. I’m angry. I don’t even know what to say,” J.Lo ranted.

"I’m gutted. You’re one of the best singers in this. I’m never upset on this show, but this makes me mad. Really mad,” Randy Jackson told the tearful Toscano.
