  1. Closed captioning of: These are a few of the crew’s favorite things

    >>> it's time for a special edition of "bobbie's buzz" called cruise favorites. every monday we tell you about our favorite things. we decided it was time to turn the cameras on the people who work hard on the show every day and manage to make us look good. paula?

    >> these heels, hoda.

    >> go, girl.

    >> not easy, y'all.

    >> i know. hey, bobbie!

    >> bobbie's here. she is our --

    >> i don't think we've ever -- i work here all the time.

    >> i watch you all the time.

    >> i can't wait for you to give me tips.

    >> she's about to.

    >> i'm sharing some tips with our "today" family here. they are fantastic. they make us look so great. i want to turn the spotlight on some people behind the camera.

    >> bianca henry. our director of culinary production. she's upstairs working. she's got something that really works for her.

    >> when i first asked her what her favorite thing was, she told me, chapstick. i was kind of shocked. then she said i use it on the back of my knuckles. she's in the kitchen all day long. i thought, what a genius idea.

    >> that's so smart.

    >> keeps her hands from chapping. good old chapstick is her favorite thing.

    >> it's like putting wax on a drawer that's kind of stuck. you know, it helps it slide.

    >> i love it.

    >> that's great.

    >> you know who took care of us this morning? mary and laura . both of them are over there. they do hair and make-up. they have their favorite things, too.

    >> mary shocked me with josie moran . i love this line. she showed me the foundation. when you skirt it on, if it comes out -- this is a custom blend color. there's only two shades.

    >> love that color.

    >> but then when you pull it off, wait --

    >> you rub it.

    >> you rub it in.

    >> what's happening!

    >> it custom blends to your skin tone .

    >> i like dark on my second chin. because it looks like a shadow.

    >> your make-up always looks beautiful.

    >> this is laura 's favorite thing. and mine, too, because of laura . tell us about this one.

    >> this is oil nonoil from gavanos. it's very light. i'm afraid of putting oil on my hair. but it's actually a really -- they call it oil nonoil because it's lightweight.

    >> it looks like -- do i have make-up on? doesn't matter.

    >> it takes away the flyaways.

    >> it's so good. it drys dry. doesn't look wet.

    >> i'm not doing too much.

    >> don't mess too much.

    >> the man that does my hair. is it pretty?

    >> paula, i have something for you.

    >> you do? oh, i see it there. blue shampoo.

    >> blue shampoo.

    >> she has this really great platin platinum pixie cut.

    >> i use this every time i shampoo.

    >> i'm never going to get through this segment. anyone that's got hair that's more of an ash tone that doesn't want it to be brassy, if you use the blue/purple shampoo it helps you. i have to say, my lips are sealed, so don't come and ask me after this.

    >> i use that every day, too.

    >> one of our crew guys does.

    >> it's anonymous. one of the guys uses this.

    >> walk on down.

    >> i won't name any names.

    >> jared , come on.

    >> jared , come on over. jared uses his mix. this is made by mixed chicks. it's a line that they use for ethnic hair that can really help. you swear by this, right?

    >> i really like it. the main thing i like, it doesn't smell like women's hair product . which kind of sucks.

    >> it sticks to your face.

    >> no, not really. my hair is kind of wet. it drys dry and not sticky.

    >> oh, it is wet! have you been in the rain?

    >> come on, we got to come this way.

    >> i'd love to stay and chat, they're dragging me along.

    >> an adorable story, quickly. hardy was changing his daughter's diapers and came across baby oil gel, his favorite thing to keep his hands dry.

    >> baby oil gel?

    >> baby oil gel. it's great. keep your hands soft and dry. jerry, you don't use head and shoulders for your hair, right?

    >> wait, hold on. what's that?

    >> my dermatologist told me to use head and shoulders for my hair and my face for my rosacea.

    >> put it on your face.

    >> dandruff on the face.

    >> okay. cheers.

    >>> coming up, we love our crew, bobbie. we love you.

    >> we do love our crew, but i don't know what the hell we're doing.

    >> this will be delicious. this will be delicious. [ announcer ] set. It’s a family around the TODAY studio, and it takes a village to help us look great. So I wanted to turn the tables and share some favorite things from our friends behind the cameras. Discover the beauty items that the crew can’t live without:

The crew of TODAY are all experts in their own fields, but I wanted to see what these ladies and gentlemen would say if asked them to list their must-haves in one of my favorite areas — beauty. I started with Bianca, our director of culinary production, who swears by original ChapStick — not only for her lips, but also for her knuckles. She applies it to keep her hands from chapping after they’ve been in water all day, proving that the trustworthy balm has more than just one use. ($1.79; drugstores)

Leave it to our key makeup artist, Mary, to know what’s hot. Her favorite item — Josie Maran’s Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation is one of Sephora’s “Hot Now” products for March. The foundation changes color on your skin to match your complexion for a custom blend, and while there are only two shades — “Light-Medium” and “Medium-Dark” — it works on a range of skin tones and it’s organic! ($42; Sephora.com)

Beauty products every woman should have

And anyone who has ever had our hairstylist, Laura, work on their ’do is familiar with her go-to product line, Davines. Their Oil Non Oil is a lightweight formula that gives shine and texture to your hair and will smooth and separate without feeling greasy or leaving your hair flat. ($24.50; Davines.com). Our lovely food stylist Lish has an adorable platinum pixie hairstyle. To avoid brassy tones she uses Shimmer Lights by Clairol, for her light locks ($15.99; Amazon.com). This “blue” shampoo helps to neutralize yellow for silver and ash blondes.

    2. 'Snow White' mania inspires fashion, beauty lines
    3. 'Hipster' eyewear new trend for defendants on trial
    4. Our 12 favorite nourishing oils — for face, hair and body

This next one may surprise you: One of our crew members (who wishes to remain nameless) revealed that he uses an eyelash curler to accentuate one of his best features. Definitely a trick I think more men should try. Speaking of stylish men, our page Jarred washes his hair with HIS MIX shampoo and leave-in conditioner. The wash-and-go products from beloved brand Mixed Chicks will work on any hair type, but are especially great for men looking to tame unruly curls and frizz. ($10-$14.50; MixedChicks.net)

On the flip side, Jerry, our studio prop head, uses his Head & Shoulders shampoo to wash his face per a doctor’s suggestion because it’s been known to help with acne and rosacea. ($7.99; Pgestore.com) Last but not least, Hardy, one of our camera guys, came across his favorite when changing his daughter’s diapers (OK, say it with me now, “Awww.”). He swears by Baby Oil Gel, available in original, cocoa butter and aloe vera ($3.99; Walgreens.com) to keep his hands baby-soft.

  1. Kate's style secrets

How does Kate Middleton make it all look so effortless? Find out how the princess-to-be relies on a few tried-and-true style rules.

    She's an accessories expert
After graduating from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, Middleton worked as an accessories buyer for Jigsaw, a British mass clothing store. During her time there, she collaborated with jewelry designer Claudia Bradby on a necklace that's now being reissued for $71.

  2. She's a big fan of Issa

Middleton's go-to designer is the Brazilian born Daniella Issa Helayel, who heads up the Issa label. (Stars like Madonna, Keira Knightley, Scarlett Johansson and Kate Moss also love her work.) Helayel's designs are known for their classic silhouettes and vibrant colors.

  3. Blue is her go-to hue

It's clear that Middleton turns to the color on important occasions. On the day she and Prince William announced their engagement to the world (center), she chose a fittingly royal shade.

  4. Kate loves a bargain

Yes, you read correctly: The princess-to-be shops at mass stores! Back in 2007, Middleton wore a Topshop dress on her 25th birthday. The $78 dress was entirely sold out just 24 hours after the photos of her wearing it were released.

  5. Richard Ward does her hair

Middleton trusts her long brunette strands to The Richard Ward Salon in London. "Our relationship with [Kate] has been built on discretion and trust," the salon said in a statement after the engagement. "Richard and his team intend to maintain this relationship whilst respecting Kate's on-going privacy."

  7. She's a boots girl

You're much more likely to catch the future princess in knee-high boots than in stilettos. She wears them with jeans, tights and bare legs.

  8. She loves a man in jeans

In an interview with Sky News, Middleton fessed up to having a poster of the Levi's jeans model on her dorm wall -- not of Prince William, like many of her peers. No doubt her future husband looks equally dashing in denim.
