It’s a boy! Josh Duggar, the eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, and his wife, Anna, have revealed that their eagerly awaited second child, due in June, will be a boy, People magazine reported on Monday.
Instead of finding out the gender of the baby themselves at the ultrasound, they got the big news from Michelle.
“We went to the ultrasound and decided that my mom would know,” Josh told People. “We figured she could handle the secret and then have a surprise sharing of the information with the entire family, including me and Anna.”

But the couple had to wait more than a week to find out the baby’s gender from Michelle, and it wasn’t easy to hang on that long.Story: Parents of 19, Duggars now await grandchild No. 2
“We thought it was fun to have the whole family hear at the same time and have the excitement together, but it was hard to wait,” Anna told People.
The couple has a daughter, Mackynzie, 17 months, and in November revealed live on TODAY that they were expecting their second child, due on June 19. Before this pregnancy, Anna experienced a miscarriage.Video: Duggars set to welcome a new grandbaby (on this page)
The couple haven’t yet decided on a name for their future son, and there’s no word on whether they will continue with his parents’ tradition of giving each child a name beginning with the same first letter. (Josh’s siblings all have names beginning with J.)

“Our No. 1 tradition is having Josh read the Bible to the baby,” Anna — a devout Christian like her husband and his family — told People. “And we tell the baby, ‘We love you and we can’t wait to meet you.’ We are explaining to Mackynzie about having a new baby in the house. I don't know if she knows the difference between a belly button and a baby, but she is learning.”
The young couple still have a way to go to keep up with Josh’s parents’ super-size family of 19. And Jim Bob and Michelle haven’t ruled out a 20th child.
“We would love more! I know that my mommy years are probably numbered, and I don’t know how many more children God will see fit to give me,” Michelle said in an interview with Radar Online. “That is something that we’ve prayed about, and we’ll just see what the Lord has in store for our family in the future.”
The latest installment in the Duggar reality series, “19 Kids and Counting,” airs Monday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
