Antoine Sanfuentes

Antoine Sanfuentes was named NBC News Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief in February 2011. He oversees all bureau management, administration and editorial guidance.

Antoine Sanfuentes was named NBC News Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief in February 2011. He oversees all bureau management, administration and editorial guidance. Sanfuentes reports to NBC News President Steve Capus, and his responsibilities include the oversight of all bureau management, administration and editorial affairs, working closely with NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd and NBC News executives including Alexandra Wallace and David Verdi. In addition, Sanfuentes has executive oversight of “Meet the Press.” 

Most recently, Sanfuentes served as NBC News Vice President and Deputy Washington Bureau Chief. Sanfuentes built his career at NBC News, starting out as an intern for NBC News station WRC in Washington, DC. He graduated in 1989, and in 1990 he became a desk assistant at the NBC News Washington Bureau. In 1995, he became a White House producer with Brian Williams, then promoted to Senior White House producer — covering the White House for thirteen years. His stint at the White House paired him up with many talented correspondents, including David Gregory.  Sanfuentes also produced major White House events including Oval Office addresses, major presidential speeches worldwide, as well primetime press conferences. Antoine in his 20 years has covered virtually every corner of the globe including Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2009, Sanfuentes coordinated NBC News’ Special “Inside the Obama Whitehouse” reported by Brian Williams. Over his time at NBC News, Sanfuentes has also produced notable coverage from across Africa alongside Ann Curry, including reports from Darfur, the eastern Congo and an historic interview with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.

An Emmy-winning producer and talented documentary photographer, Sanfuentes also works closely with People Encouraging People— an organization that supports disabled and disadvantaged people in the Baltimore area. He is an accomplished drummer and music enthusiast.

Sanfuentes received his Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from American University. He currently resides in Maryland with his wife Lisa and two daughters.
