MARICOPA, Ariz. — Bristol Palin, the 20-year-old daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has purchased a five-bedroom house in an Arizona suburb, The Arizona Republic reported Friday.
The 4,000-square-foot house in Maricopa was built in 2006 and purchased for $329,560 at the time, according to public records. The property had been in foreclosure earlier this year. Bristol Palin bought it this month from Michael and Cynthia Smith for $172,000 in cash, the Republic reported. She was the sole purchaser, paperwork shows.
According to real estate websites, the house is a two-level, brown stucco with a tile roof and a landscaped front and back yard. It doesn't have its own swimming pool, but there is a community pool.
It wasn't immediately known if the "Dancing With the Stars" contestant will be a seasonal visitor or live in Arizona full-time.
Bristol Palin first gained national attention when her mother, former governor of Alaska, was selected as John McCain's GOP running mate in the 2008 presidential election. McCain is from Arizona and Sarah Palin has been a frequent visitor to the state.
"I'm not sure why she wanted to buy that home, but we are real happy for her," Michael Smith told the Arizona Republic. "She seems like a nice girl. We're excited for her."
