Although summer is more than six months away, some of us are already yearning for a tropical trip. TODAY style editor and Bobbie.com's Bobbie Thomas sought out the latest and greatest in swimsuits so you'll be ready whenever warm weather calls.

Convertible options
While some days you may feel like a bikini babe, other days can call for a classic one-piece. Fortunately, you can have both with Boobah's chic convertible suits. The fold-over bottoms can be worn up as a one-piece, or scrunched down in seconds to transform into two. Mix and match pieces to create your favorite combination (Pammy Bra & Convertible Bikini Bottom, $74-$84; Boobah.com.au).

Aerin Rose's Shirred Convertible one-piece offers halter and strapless ways to wear. And when you're not in the water, you can shimmy it down into a retro mini-dress so you'll have plenty of coverage to walk poolside with confidence (Shirred Convertible Halter, $78; Aerinrose.com).

Reversible bathing suits
When seeking out a sunny retreat, you not only want to wear as little as possible, but pack as little as possible. With suits that offer you two looks in one, you can free up luggage space without sacrificing style. TYR's reversible options come in an array of vibrant colors and prints that can be worn either way (Solids Double Binding Reversible Diamondback, $72; Tyr.com). Another company known for creative, reversible suits is celebrity favorite Vitamin A, which boasts a dozen designs you can flip and twist to create new looks (Vitamin A Silver Collection, $49.99; Vitaminaswim.com).

Swim support
I've long been a fan of shapewear and its many benefits. Now you can find bathing suits that offer the same support and coverage. With a motto that reads "Designed to make the body you have, look like the body you want," ShapeFX swimwear features built-in liners and panels to flatter your figure. Their suits are made of power mesh and ultra-control fabrics, and you can shop by problem area to select the style that is right for you (Power Mesh One-Piece, $21.99; Shapefx.com).

High-tech textiles
Brands are always looking for innovative breakthroughs and fashion-forward options to offer the public. One great example is Mermaid in England's Aqua Change bathing suits that change colors and patterns when wet. Watch a white suit reveal rainbows or a red one transform into polka dots upon contact with water (Aqua Change Swimwear, $49-$180; Mermaidinengland.com).

And from quick change to quick dry, Nano-Tex technology can now be found in a variety of men's boardshorts. The fabric's unique molecular structure allows it to absorb less water and dry faster than other materials — meaning you can can comfortably go from the beach to the boardwalk in no time (Hyperfreak 2.0 Boardshorts, $90; ShopOneillusa.com).
