   >> she was reportedly very nearby but in a different hotel room . some reports had her going to the hospital, which she refuted. she said this is a private matter. one thing i thought was really interesting is on the "today" show this morning, when she did an interview with hoda and kathie lee , she said i'm trying to protect my girls. i hope for the best for charlie . i have faith in him he'll step up to the plate and clean himself up for the sake of his daughters, but his daughters now, two of them, are blissfully unaware of what's go on. she's trying to protect them.

   >> the interesting thing is there is a lost speculation because charlie is under probation from the colorado incident at christmas last year with his wife at the time, like how this might influence that.

   >> reportedly the police found no drugs in the hotel room . the woman who was in the hotel room reportedly refused to press any charges. the hotel reportedly has refused to press charges. charlie sheen is a powerful man. this speaks to why he's able to continue to be on tv and be the highest paid actor on television. as long as he delivers to his audience, his behavior can be completely excused. combine that with the fact that people really do like to watch miscreants on television and the movies, i can point to " jersey shore ," the fact that "jackass" made more than $21 million. in some ways you look at the train wreck and you're able to turn on the television when the time comes to watch "2 1/2 men".

   >> not nearly the train wreck that this story is. by the way, dan abrams told the "today" show that he's, like, look, it is not illegal to be naked, not illegal to be drunk. and as long as he's going to pay for the hotel room , there could be civil action , but that's about -- if they're unwilling to press charges, legally --

   >> it makes a good point right there. if you can't prove anything criminal happened, then what are you going to do? you're going to say charlie sheen misbehaving again. the truth of the matter is he's been terrorizing women in hotel rooms for years. remember his one-time girlfriend kelly preston now married to john travolta . he accidentally shot her in the arm with a gun, a bullet.
