    >> flavors.

    >>> this morning on bobby's style buzz, daring to wear fashion inspired by the new " sex in the city " movies. the ladies are all sporting bold and trendy fashions. you can too. today bobby thomas is here to show off some of her favorites. bobby, good morning.

    >> good morning.

    >> fashion is such a huge part of this movie. we go and ah over the shoes.

    >> everywhere.

    >> what are the trends you saw?

    >> the biggest trend is all about headpieces and turbans and scarves. i really loved that. as pat herself said, she went berse berserk. this is from sasha samuel, the designer that made the headpiece in the movie. i wanted to wear it hippy style, which another big trend. i'm wearing a silk jump suit. this is by tibi. this is something that normally i would have looked at the rack and said, you know, no thank you.

    >> gorgeous. looks good on you.

    >> it's about being inspired.

    >> break the rules, mix and match. i have a lot of ideas.

    >> look at the inspirations we have, first of all, the first model, wearing bright bold neon colors. this is what carrie bradshaw does so well. right? she pulls off the neon.

    >> on the red carpet , have more of that bright pink. so i wanted to show you how you could wear bright neon. so the key is to go with the classic ensemble. the striped pink and that's something you see every year. the neon gives nautical a new pop. but it look for something a little more sheer. this happens to be a mesh overlay. that makes the color not so intense. a little less oh passty. i found this at lowman's for $35. the designer top that i love. so let's go ahead and add it even if it's your nail polish . have fun with neon it comes in and out of style.

    >> you want to anchor them.

    >> exactly.

    >> very nice. thanks, rashida. the next model, barbara, wearing shorts with the hint of the lingerie feel. the sexiness that samantha would wear, right?

    >> definitely. seeing so many of what they're calling shorts on the runway. from dulce and gabanna and you can see on barbara, she pulls this off in a sophisticated way. that kind of helps her.

    >> yeah.

    >> it's fitted.

    >> the scalloped edge. that's got the ling rooe feel. these are from macy's. and that lingerie topped it but by adding the polished blazer, you don't feel like you're in a pajama set.

    >> here's nancy in a leather dress. we normally think of leather for fall or winter. you can do it in spring or summer.

    >> i was inspired by miranda and her practical sort of style. the little leather dress is great in the fall, but if you add the organic accessories you can summarize it. this necklace from chicos is $75. i love that. it's got the wood look to it. and what i like about buying a leather dress right now is all season -- this is only $75 at speigel. you can find a deal. one thing we've learned from costume designer in the movie, she pulled looks for these lady ladies from everywhere, yardsales to even off -- discount department stores . live this idea.

    >> very nice. thank you so much.

    >>> okay, then last but not least. becky is going to show us a trend that offers sort of that retro not. this is something that charlotte might wear.

    >> yes. definitely the sweeter look. got that little full and flirty skirt that charlotte would love. and you know what i like about this? the playful spunk. this is what i call socks in the city. this is a trend some ladies are saying i don't know if i could get into. but, beware, prada put all of these sort of socks in sandals down it will fall runway. much more of the sock and shoe combination with heels.

    >> and this works with this outfit. exactly, the sheerness is what --

    >> it's playful. the idea is it should be inspired. " sex and the city " made everyone everywhere look and say, what can i do differently to express another side of my personality.

    >> so true.

    >> thank you, bobby thomas. bring the ladies out if they can hear me. one last look here.

    >> good job, girls.

    >> well done.

    >> beautiful.

    >>> all right, still to come,

From the small screen to the sequel, the “Sex and the City” franchise has inspired women everywhere to consider cutting-edge ideas from the catwalk. So in honor of “Sex and the City 2,” where style itself plays a starring role yet again, TODAY style editor and Bobbie.com’s Bobbie Thomas is here to help you dare to wear fashions that push the envelope. So without further ado, here’s a flash into the future of what you may wear next time you step out with the girls:

Day glow
Carrie would surely agree that in coming years, fashion will rely not only on trends but technology. While you may not want to break the bank on the $2,500 light-up Jimmy Choos Fergie recently rocked, or be ready for the spotlight-stealing gown Katy Perry wore to the Met Gala, you can still shine like a star. Get inspired by that Carrie Bradshaw confidence (remember when she went clubbing in fluorescent underwear?) and revisit neon this summer. Balance the burst of color with a classic ensemble. Wear white denim with a striped tee and layer a highlighter yellow tank underneath to give nautical a new look. Even if you opt for an electric shade of nail polish to accent your outfit, fashion’s forecast is looking bright. (Shelly Steffee mesh top, $39.99, Loehmanns.com; Oonagh by Nanette Lepore Bret striped tank, $68, Revolveclothing.com; Clean skinny jeans, $79, Kennethcole.com)

Chic shorts
Samantha Jones offers women a sexy yet strong voice. We could easily see the fearless favorite of the four slipping into the lingerie looks that dominated the runways at Dior and Dolce & Gabbana. Soft, silky tap shorts once reserved for the boudoir are making a style statement and, dare I say, becoming the new mini. When paired with a chic, structured classic such as the blazer, even the most delicate fabrics can look sophisticated for everything from cosmos to conferences.

All-weather leather
Women today not only work, but work it year-round — so practical personalities like Miranda, who looks at her wardrobe for both fashion and function, will support the seasonless style wave we’ve been riding. This look is all about all-weather leather. What was once a faux pas for anything but fall is now being lightened up and refined for warmer months, thanks to advances in modern manufacturing. You can find luxe-looking synthetics in new hues — from pretty pink to soft neutrals — or stick with classic black. And bonus, shop the sale racks for a deal on a fall dress! Either way, springtime leather makes a fresh, striking statement, especially when you add the contrast of organic accessories. (Signature blazer, $39-$79, Erynbrinie.com; BCBGeneration coral tank, $58, Rachel by Rachel Roy scalloped trim shorts, $79, Macys.com; AK Anne Klein Iflex nude wedge, $59.99, Dsw.com)

Socks and the city
And last but not least, Charlotte and her ladies who lunch can embrace a nostalgic throwback to ladylike silhouettes. A softer, fuller skirt is a way to nod back in time to 1950s femininity and can be flattering on almost any body type. But it’s the unexpected combination of socks with sandals or stilettos seen on celebrities that actually offers us some fashion foreshadowing. While Prada sent cable-knit knee-highs down their Fall 2010 runway, sheer ankle peds with a pretty pump or kitten heel will make a playful, sweet statement this summer. (Pink T-shirt, floral skirt, $12.90-$59.90, Zara.com; Anklet socks, $8, Jessicasimpsoncollection.com; Captivat Blush pumps, $79.95, SteveMadden.com)
