Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael, has often claimed he only wanted to help her when he made her private life the subject of public discussion, but according to the star, Dad’s frequent media antics only further fueled her battle with the bottle and drug addiction.

“When my father was going public, that's when I hit rock bottom,” the actress explained in an interview with The Sun. “I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems. People need to know that. I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances.”

While the Michael Lohan might not believe her current clean claims, LiLo insisted clear her substance abuse is all in the past.

“Now I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything and I can feel emotions because I choose to,” the younger Lohan said.

Susan Boyle’s brother claims singer suffers from loneliness She may be at the top of her career, but Susan Boyle’s private life is far from a success, according to her brother. In an interview with Britain’s The People, Gerry Boyle revealed the “Britain’s Got Talent” winner suffers from intense loneliness.

“It's just all so sad, so sad,” the sibling said. “Susan has the world at her feet in terms of fame and money but at this precise moment in time it means nothing. Absolutely nothing. The one thing she wants above all everything else is love. Who doesn't?”

Still, romance remains out of reach for the busy singing sensation, and her older brother considers that a cause for concern.

“Susan knows she can jet anywhere in the world first class, eat in the best restaurants and stay in the top hotels but that means nothing to her if she doesn't have anyone to share those moments with,” Gerry Boyle explained. “All those throwaway comments about Pebbles her cat being her soul mate were a way of masking unhappiness.”

That mask slipped away two weeks ago when reps for the performer confirmed she and Pebbles now live apart.

Travis Barker gives his side of paparazzi flap Blink-182’s Travis Barker was dining with family and friends Sunday morning in Calabasas, Calif., when a heated exchange between Barker and one lensman led to an angry group confrontation with a pack of paparazzi. The scuffle prompted the drummer to engage in some online self-defense after the fact.

“When I'm out at breakfast at 8am in the morning the last thing I appreciate is some photographer threatening me 2 a fight while he's 3 deep,” Barker began in a series of Twitter updates. “When I defend myself/my kids that don't make me a tough guy. I was outnumbered and threatened so I did what any man would.”

In this case, that meant returning to the scene of the original standoff with a couple of burley friends in tow for what Barker described as “a fair fight.” Photographers hoping to avoid a similar run-in with the rocker need only pay attention to his tweets.

“Bottom line, take photos at red carpets,” Barker wrote. “Take pics of hungry Hollywood starlets and douche bags that are out at clubs and bars that like it. … I'm not a socialite out begging for that kind of attention. I'm a family man out wit my kids. Don't get the 2 twisted.”

The 53-year-old actress broke up with 30-year-old boyfriend Alan Wyse last year and has allegedly sworn off younger men since then. “Kim still believes in true love, and she wants to marry again, but with Alan, Kim felt more like a baby sitter than a girlfriend — and they had ferocious fights over marriage and kids,” a source revealed to the magazine. “The bottom line is that she wants a serious, grown-up relationship now.” … After claiming Heidi Montag’s nipped and tucked form on the cover of People magazine was inappropriate viewing material for her own daughters, Lisa Rinna promised to never publicly discuss plastic surgery again. The soap star, who’s admitted to having had several cosmetic procedures in the past, received backlash from fans and gossip bloggers for what some considered a hypocritical stance. “I am no longer speaking on that subject ever again,” the actress told UsMagazine.com. “And that's all I have to say.”
