The sudden death of “Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend” contestant Kat McKenzie has left the hotel heiress devastated.

“I am deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of my friend Kat McKenzie,” Hilton said in a statement released to Access Hollywood.

“She was a beautiful, funny, strong and caring person, we spent some amazing times together both in the U.K. and in Los Angeles,” Hilton said of the 25-year-old Guildford, Surrey native, who died on Friday in the U.K.

“She always knew how to make me laugh and put a smile on my face. It is devastating to hear of her loss, my thoughts and wishes go out to her friends and family. She will be missed.”

Hilton also expressed her sadness over the former reality contestant’s untimely passing on Twitter.

“I am so sad, my friend Kat from British BFF passed away. She was such a beautiful, funny, and charismatic woman. She will truly be missed,” She tweeted on Tuesday from Dubai, where she is currently filming the Mideast edition of her popular reality series. “It is devastating to hear of her loss, my thoughts and wishes go out to her friends and family. Love you Kitty Kat. RIP.”

According to the British Press Association, the cause of McKenzie’s death is not known, but police are not treating her passing as suspicious. The 25-year-old was a runner-up on Hilton’s reality competition, which aired earlier this year on ITV2 in the U.K.
