Kathie Lee Gifford is learning that you can’t go home again. At least, if they don’t want you there.

The former longtime host of “Live With Regis and Kathie Lee” left the show in 2000 amid great fanfare, only to see the ratings rise after her departure. Since then, Gifford has never appeared as a guest host, like some fans had expected.

Now, the perky ex-host is saying that she wants to go back on the show, but has never been invited to.

In a message on her Web site, Gifford says she’d be “delighted” to guest-host — if she’s ever asked to.

“It’s appalling, after all she gave to that show,” fumed one fan.

Although Gifford has always publicly maintained that she’s glad she left the show, some observers feel that her career has not taken off the way she’d expected.

A spokesman for “Live” didn’t return calls.

‘Bachelor’ pad
Don’t have a reality show at your house. A Malibu couple learned that the hard way after they rented out their $4.5 million Malibu house to Warner Bros. for $45,000 so that “The Bachelor” could be filmed there.

Kenneth and Marci Chyten returned to find their house in a “filthy, uninhabitable” condition, according to a $5 million lawsuit they have filed against Warner Bros., which is currently posted on TheSmokingGun.com. The Chytens are claiming there were holes in the walls, damage to irreplaceable limestone, a rodent and poisonous spider infestation, and the place littered with “cigarette butts, used matches, plastic bags, plastic bottles, junk food boxes, plastic wrappers, and personal hygiene items that were apparently used by female contestants.”

A rep for “The Bachelor” couldn’t be reached for comment.

Notes from all over

Image: Jack Osbourne
Is Jack Osbourne toting a piece? According to the Brit newspaper The People, the rock spawn was spotted buying a rifle in Beverly Hills with his “adopted” brother, Rob Mercato. . . . Rosie O’Donnell has learned that it isn’t as easy to get freebies when you don’t have your own talk show. The former TV gab show host was a guest on “The View” and wanted to give members of the audience a free Wynonna Judd CD, but the label wouldn’t give them to her. So she went to music stores and bought them herself. . . .

Mark Wahlberg still has that infamous prosthetic member he wore in “Boogie Nights.” In fact, he claims he keeps it in a safe. “It’s my prized possession,” he quipped at the London premiere of “The Italian Job” last week. “You never know when it’ll be useful.”
