Despite a series of personal setbacks, including a failed adoption bid and a he-said-she-said equine accident , Madonna still has one thing going her way — her romance with model Jesus Luz. According to the New York Post’s Page Six, even that was in jeopardy until the queen of pop’s fashion friends came to the rescue.

In order for Luz, a Brazilian citizen, to stay in United States and by Madonna’s side, he needs to work. That’s where having a well connected cougar comes in handy.

“All these fashion lines are hiring Jesus as a favor to Madonna,” a source said. “As long as he can legally work in the U.S., they can be together.”

Among the designers allegedly lending a helping hand is Madonna’s longtime pal Marc Jacobs.

“(Marc) wrote a letter of support for Jesus’ work permit,” the source revealed. “Marc campaigned for Jesus, saying he is highly talented and a necessity to the label.”

Madonna’s rep responded to the Post’s report, insisting the singer hasn’t asked anyone for help on Luz’s behalf.

Billy Ray thinks of Miley as a friend
Trust trumps concern when it comes to raising Disney darling Miley Cyrus. The “Hannah Montana” star’s on-screen and off-screen dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, admits he considers his daughter a friend and takes a laid-back approach to parenting.

“With Miley, I just trust her so much,” the senior Cyrus told Digital Spy at recent press conference. “She’s got a great head on her shoulders. She makes pretty good decisions most of the time and even has enough common sense that, if she makes a bad one, she makes adjustments. She knows that’s what life is, it’s a day-by-day, step-by-step journey.”

It’s also a journey where the world’s watching every cell phone shot, each nearly topless magazine photo and the older man in her life. Still, Billy Ray Cyrus doesn’t see any reason to reign in his daughter’s behavior.

“I try to be a friend for Miley; I know that’s not everyone’s parenting style,” he admitted. “A friend, partner as an actor, a singer, songwriter and let her be a teenage girl and do her thing.”

Geena Davis on growing older in Tinseltown
Hollywood’s lack of love for women over 40 is nothing new, but it still came as a shock to 53-year-old actress Geena Davis when she noticed the shrinking number of scripts coming her way.

Slideshow: Celebrity Sightings “It’s a true phenomenon that the parts dwindle as you get older,” Davis told the Daily Beast. “You wake up one day and you’re flabbergasted to find out … so, this has happened to me.”

Davis believes starting her career in the heyday of actresses such as Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange and Sally Field gave her a false sense of optimism toward ageism.

“There was a ‘Sophie’s Choice,’ a ‘Norma Rae,’ etc. I thought, ‘This is a new era, and I won’t have to worry,’” she confessed. “‘It will all be fixed by the time I’m 40!’ And of course, it wasn’t. All of us female actors think we can just keep going and going. But it’s not always the case.”

Dish on the fly
Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden spent Saturday night up in arms after a British Airways employee asked him to cover up his trademarked tattoos with long sleeves before boarding a flight. “I still can't believe Brit Air discriminated me for tatts,” Madden posted to his Twitter account. Turns out, the rocker isn’t the only one who found the incident shocking. “We don't understand why the employee took it upon himself to enforce regulations that don’t exist,” a rep for British Airways informed TMZ. … The “Star Trek” feud between William Shatner and George Takei boldly goes on and on. The stars of the original “Star Trek” franchise began their battle after Shatner claimed Takei didn’t invite him to witness Takei’s September 2008 wedding to longtime partner Brad Altman. Not so, said Takei, who now points to a simpler reason behind the battle. “(Shatner) just needs attention, constant relentless attention,” he told Britain’s Daily Mirror. “And he is jealous of anyone else who gets it. He can be charming witty and gracious, but it is all because he needs something.”
