Rihanna quietly goes back to work

Just days after Chris Brown was charged with assaulting and threatening a woman widely reported to be his girlfriend Rihanna, she is back to work with her producer, Adonis Shropshire.

"She's doing OK," her producer, Shropshire, told HipHollywood.com. "I mean, of course (with) the situation, she's all right.”

Shropshire went on to explain that Rihanna is using her music as a means to try to move forward.

"You have to remember, she's still a kid," Shropshire said of the 21-year-old. "With anybody in the world that goes through something, you have to bring yourself out of it. So I guess her refuge is her music, of course, as it should be.

"Of course, there's still remnants of whatever from time to time," he continued. "But she's definitely trying to move forward."

Brown is back to business as usual, too. His MySpace page has a message to his fans asking them to vote for him in the Kids Choice Awards. Brown is nominated in the categories for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Male Song. The only possible nod to his legal situation is the closing of the post, which says simply “thank you for your support.”

Angelina Jolie heads to NYC
The Jolie-Pitt brood is set to decamp from Washington, D.C., where Angelina Jolie has been filming “Salt.”

According to a set source, the production’s last day of filming is March 9, and then filming resumes in New York City Tuesday March 10.

The Jolie-Pitts have been known to take the kids to work while mom and dad film, but this time around there haven’t been any sightings of their six children. Perhaps it’s due to the shooting schedule. The source says 16-hour days have been the norm.

Martha Stewart twitters puppy death
It’s no surprise that legendary early riser Martha Stewart was awake by 8:42 a.m. on Saturday March 7, but up and Twittering?

“Chow breeder karen tracy lost eleven chows and five boarders in a tragic propane explosion — my little ghenghis khan perished in the blaze,” Stewart wrote. That was followed by “Karen is okay but a few people got hurt including the propane delivery man we hope they all recover and that the surviving dogs get better,” at 9:09 a.m.

Less than an hour later, the Twitter-grieving period was over. “I am preparing a Chinese lunch for my guests today,” read the 10:02 a.m. post.

Weekend box office
“Watchmen’s” number-one finish at the box office was a no-brainer, but the fact it only banked about $55.7 million is somewhat surprising.

Slideshow: Celebrity Sightings Studio estimates expected the long-awaited pic to make something closer to the $60 million mark, and it was on pace to beat that with Friday totals of $25.1 million.

The “Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Experience” also made box office headlines, but for all the wrong reasons. The film, which was #2 last weekend, saw its numbers drop by 83% for a $2.7 million weekend and a sad $16.7 million total.

It’s still the second-highest opening for a concert film, but it’s got to be a disappointment to the studio, given the fan base and hype.
