Some may find it shocking, but buying blades for her 7-year-old son is just another family tradition as far as Angelina Jolie is concerned.

In an interview with W, the mother of six says she’s passing on a rite she shared with her own mother.

“My mom took me to buy my first daggers when I was 11 or 12,” Angelina explained. “And I've already bought Maddox some."

To reduce the likelihood of injury, she ensures none of the blades sport a sharp edge and that she and Maddox talk about violence.

“We also talk about samurais and the idea about defending someone as good,” the “Wanted” star said. “We talk about everything.”

Hopefully the oldest Jolie-Pitt sibling will prove to have a healthier interest in the knives than his mom did back in her wild child days.

“I collected knives and always had certain things around,” Angelina once confessed. “For some reason, the ritual of having cut myself and feeling, like, feeling the pain, maybe, feeling alive, feeling some kind of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me.”

Troubled times for Lindsay and Samantha?
BFFs Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are allegedly going through a rough patch, as a source tells the Daily Mail one-half of the seemingly inseparable twosome feels smothered by the other.

“Sam needs her space away from Lindsay and really needs to take a long look at what the future of this relationship can be,” an insider revealed. “Samantha DJ'ed three big parties around the Emmy weekend in Los Angeles, and Lindsay was practically on top of her for every minute of those gigs.”

Samantha was said to be concerned about being taken seriously as a DJ after those incidents, and, according to the source, hoped she’d be able clear the air with her pal during their recent vacation south of the border.

“But things didn't go well in Mexico,” the source insisted. “Despite the photos of them playing on the beach, Sam said things were very tense between them when they got back.”

Depp’s girlfriend can do without marriage
She’s already got Johnny Depp — what more could Vanessa Paradis want?

Nothing, evidently. Despite frequent wedding rumors, the singer-turned-actress-turned-model says she isn’t worried about walking down the aisle any time soon.

“Each summer people say we're supposed to be getting married, but we don't talk about it that much,” Vanessa told the U.K. edition of Elle magazine. “He's got me, and he knows he's got me … I mean, I'm more married than anybody can be — we have two kids (Jack, 6, and Lily Rose, 9). Maybe one day, but it's something I can really do without.”

Dish on the fly
While 2-year-old Suri Cruise spends plenty of time shopping for designer duds with mom Katie Holmes, that high-end mommy bonding is no substitute for making friends. “Whenever (Suri) sees kids, she gets excited and runs up to them and hugs them as if she never gets to see kids her own age,” a source revealed to Page Six. “There's not a lot of socialization there.” … A recent rumor had Jessica Simpson and boyfriend Tony Romo shopping for “big sparklers” at Neiman Marcus and planning a winter wedding, but Jessica says it’s simply not true. “Tony and I have not gone to Neiman Marcus,” the singer told Entertainment Tonight. “I couldn't drag Tony into Neiman Marcus if I tried.”
