Mariah’s old flame ‘shattered’ by marriage

Carey's former boyfriend, music producer Mark Sudack, is reportedly shocked by the singer's recent marriage to Nick Cannon.

Did Mariah Carey break hearts en route to her marriage to Nick Cannon? It looks that way, according to Us Weekly.

The magazine says that music producer Mark Sudack dated Carey for nearly four years, and he even worked on her “E=MC2” album. Though the two “secretly split” in early 2008, Us says Sudack is “shattered” by his ex's nuptial news.

“Everyone is scared to call him because no one knows what to say,” a friend of his told the mag. “He never thought she would go off and marry someone else. He’s heartbroken and shocked.”

Carey of course, isn’t licking any old wounds. At Ellen DeGeneres’ 50th birthday bash in L.A., the magazine reports that she told fellow guest Pink, “Five minutes after I met Nick, I knew I’d marry him.”

Cowell puts his support behind Cook
One of the great things about “American Idol” is that judges are not required to remain impartial. Simon Cowell recently chatted with Blender.com and he said the person who most deserves to be the next Idol is David Cook. “I think he’s done more to deserve it over the 11 weeks. He’s taken more risks, he’s done things with certain songs that have been more interesting. If I’m gonna base it on who has done the best performances over the live shows, David Cook deserves to win.”

And he just might: Cowell coached Cook this week when he sang “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” which was recorded by Cowell’s “X-Factor” discovery, Leona Lewis. With that kind of endorsement, it does make you think that Cook will be just fine (i.e., looked after by Cowell) regardless of the show’s outcome.

Dwight Schrute’s McCain demandsRainn Wilson, aka Dwight Schrute of “The Office,” was perusing the Lucky Club at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in NYC when he chatted with Scoop about John McCain’s endorsement of “The Office,” and his choice of Schrute as a running mate.

Wilson quickly went into character, saying, “Of course Dwight Schrute accepts the offer for vice president. As long as certain conditions were met, of course.”

And what would those conditions be? “I think it is only appropriate that the vice president pilot Air Force One, for example.”

We’ll have to see about that …
