Lindsay Lohan may be running low on cash

After two pricey rehab stints and string of box-office disappointments, people close to Lindsay Lohan are saying that the actress isn't as flush with cash as she once was.

After two pricey rehab stints and string of box-office disappointments, it’s no surprise that people close to Lindsay Lohan are saying that the actress is starting to panic that she’s not as flush with cash as she once was.

“Lindsay has had a reality check — she’s not getting offers like she used to. She’s definitely thinking she needs a big blockbuster just so she can go back to living comfortably,” said one source in the film industry.

Just where did the money go? In Touch weekly outlined some of her spending, and the magazine concludes that Lohan has paid more than $315,000 on rehab stays and more than $1 million on hotels (in particular, they point to the $2,700/night suite at the Chateau Marmot where Lohan lived for a time). And although her rep denies Lohan's cash situation and spending, there is a stunning budget line for tanning: The magazine says that she spent a mind-boggling $70,000 alone on her sunshine in a bottle.

Lohan is thinking outside of the box, though. She recently revealed that she’s got a business idea to carry her over until her next windfall: She’ll be starting her own line of leggings. Lohan told Life & Style, “It will be a while before it comes out, but I’m going to do it. Some of them will have prints and some will have patterns. I love leggings.”

“Project Runway” fans, there’s still some Tim Gunn to be had on prime time. On March 18, the silver fox will help make over the remaining contestants on “The Biggest Loser: Couples.” Makeovers have long been a part of Gunn’s routine. During a recent interview at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, Gunn revealed that he’s always been interested in design. In fact, for his birthday his father got him “a put-together castle for his birthday, and (I started) designing clothes for the soldiers.”

Other “Runway” contestants have been busy since the show wrapped — Chris March and Jack Mackenroth were at Bergdorf Goodman’s for the Italian Trade Commission’s Global Travel exhibition. Both March and Mackenroth were overhead telling Rhode Island School of Design students in attendance what they can do to get their start in the fashion business. I’m guessing that advice was to audition for a certain show on Bravo ...

Is Blair Underwood’s ‘In Treatment’ run coming to an end early?
Has anyone else figured out that it seems like Blair Underwood’s character, Alex, gets killed off? During promos last week, there was a scene with Laura and Paul where they’re both dressed in black and they’re chatting together at what looks to be a cemetery. Alex is the only person who could possibly bring the two of them together in that way.

Also, the March 12 episode that featured Alex had him leaving to go back to fly for the Navy. As soon as it ended, I placed a call to Underwood’s rep and asked her if Underwood’s Emmy-worthy season of “In Treatment” was coming to an abrupt end and all I got was a “no comment” — twice. That’s code for being spot on, in my book.

Also: I hear Underwood filmed only seven of the nine episodes. Sad to see his character go, but Underwood will go down as one of the most memorable characters of the series.

Weekend box-office predictions
This weekend features the opening of horror flick “Doomsday” and Djimon Hounsou’s “Never Back Down.” Both of these films’ openings will be overshadowed by the release of “Horton Hears a Who!”

Given the fact that it’s got star power (Jim Carrey and Steve Carell lend their voices) and that some industry insiders are expecting it to possibly break the $100 million mark, “Horton” seems to be a no-brainer for the No. 1 spot at the box office.
