“Wolverine” writer David Benioff has been hired to draft the script for the Kurt Cobain biopic, “Heavier Than Heaven,” according to Variety.

Benioff, the husband of actress Amanda Peet, previously wrote the screenplay for “Troy,” which starred Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com the rights to Charles Cross’ book of the same title were acquired by Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love. It appears that since Love’s acquisition, a deal was cut with Universal, who according to Variety, now has the rights to the book about the late Nirvana frontman.

Love will executive produce the film with her lawyer Howard Weitzman.

Variety reports producers for the film include Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, NBC’s Ben Silverman, Graham Larson, Working Title and Reveille Motion Pictures.

While no casting details are presently available, bloggers have gone wild, suggesting “The Notebook’s” Ryan Gosling should play the part of Cobain.

As for Love’s role, several months ago, the singer blogged on her former Web site, MoonwashedRose, that she had an actress in mind. However, she wouldn’t reveal who it was.

“i perdsonallythink (sic) “me” is a little too pretty , but ive talked with her and swhe assures me im full of [s***], wich is why i like her she says stuff like that, plus ivenever once seen her at Hyde and she keeps her bizness clean,” Love wrote.
