Hollywood’s top party tarts aren’t the BFFs they used to be, but that’s not why Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan ditched the “Teen Choice Awards,” last Sunday. According to the New York Post’s Page Six, all three took a pass at the requests of their publicists, none of which much appreciated a new category for which their clients were nominated.
“There was originally going to be a ‘Newsmakers of the Year’ award,” an insider told Page Six. “Paris was nominated for her 23-day stint in jail, Lindsay for her latest DUI bust and Britney for the infamous head-shaving incident. But none of them would dare to show up ... all the publicists (for the celebutards) went crazy on Fox, and they just scrapped the category.”

Meanwhile, despite the cancelled category, two other nominees took advantage of their free “Teen Choice Awards” tickets and showed up anyway: “American Idol” phenom Sanjaya Malakar and Larry Birkhead, who according to Page Six, brought his 16-year-old nephew and not Dannielynn, the baby he fathered with Anna Nicole Smith.
Angelina on acting and politics
Despite her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency and the activist actions she shares with partner Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie doesn’t think actors are really well suited for politics. In a recent interview with Der Spiegel, Jolie waxed ironic with her views on the close-to-home subject.

“I don't necessarily think that's a natural role for an actor,” Jolie told Der Spiegel of others following her politically active footsteps. “Sometimes acting and politics make a very bad combination. I think that sometimes people take me less seriously in my work for the UN because I am an actor.”
Jolie, who spent Tuesday in Iraq meeting with refugees and U.S. troops, also shied away from the idea of actors being seen as moral leaders, according to Der Spiegel. “I think we should be looking for great leaders in people who have dedicated their lives to those issues. And the reality is that actors spend a great deal of their time making films.” And adopting kids, in Brangelina’s case.
Elisha Cuthbert and Sean Avery split
After almost two years together, actress Elisha Cuthbert and New York Rangers left wing Sean Avery have called off their engagement. And a friend of the former sweeties told OK! Magazine that the platinum blonde was the one who initiated the break-up.
No worries, though. Avery’s not waiting by the phone and hoping for a second chance. He was already back on the prowl last weekend at the LG House in Malibu, according to an OK! eyewitness. “When you asked Sean where Elisha was he shrugged his shoulders and said they had broken up.”
Evidently Avery even took an unsuccessful stab at flirting with Miss Cuthbert’s pal Paris Hilton, but the heir-head gave him the brush off, a source revealed to the NY Daily News. “He hit on her three times, but every time, Paris would give him disgusted looks and move away from his creepy shoulder-brushing and close-talking ways.”
