Jordin Sparks fans are out for the blood of an obesity expert who said that the “American Idol” winner should lose some weight.

MeMe Roth of the National Action Against Obesity tells The Scoop that there have been “hate posts calling for my death” ever since she went on Fox TV and said that Sparks is overweight. “When I look at Jordin I see diabetes, I see heart disease, I see high cholesterol,” Roth said. “That’s what’s so sad about this — she is not the vision of health — she is the vision of ‘unhealth.’”

Roth says she stands by her words — but did not call Sparks “obese” or say some of the other things that irate posters have attributed to her. Roth says that some have misconstrued her words because of Fox’s “sensationalized setup.”

Slideshow: ‘Idol’ crowns a champ Roth further tells the Scoop she admires the 17-year-old singer’s talent and effervescent personality” but adds that “her extra weight is a reflection of today’s society and a culture where many of our children have compromised health due to unhealthful food choices and inactivity ... We have to stop with the ‘baby fat,’ ‘curvy,’ ‘goddess’ euphemisms and own this child health crisis.”

Says Roth: “You’ll also find Miss Sparks to be quite contradictory. In her latest People Magazine interview she’s both declaring to ‘love her body’ just as it is, while at the same time, in the sidebar, advising other ‘plus-size’ females on how to dress slim.”

Lady Spice?
Will Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham become a Lady?

She shouldn’t, some Brits say. They’re questioning a plan to knight the former pop star’s hubby — which would make him Sir David and his wife Lady Victoria.

At issue is not just whether the 32-year-old sports star has achieved enough in his life to enter knighthood — but also the fact that he’s moving to the U.S.

Although Beckham’s name has been put forward, some believe it should not be approved at a time when he will be earning his main income and paying tax in the U.S. thanks to his £25 million (about $50 million), five-year deal with the L.A. Galaxy football club,” noted the London Evening Standard, which quoted one source as saying, “Some officials feel that there is nothing wrong with honoring a player who is based in Europe and free to represent his country if required, but feel there is a big difference if the same player is earning his main income and paying tax in the United States and unable to play for England.”

Notes from all over
High profile attorney Raoul Felder has some advice for Paris Hilton while she’s in the slammer. “Keep to yourself,” Felder advises. “You don’t want to run the risk of getting into an argument with a fellow inmate and adding time to your sentence. The Century Regional Detention Facility isn’t San Quentin, but it’s no Hilton either, so the sooner she’s out the better.” Also: “Don’t flaunt your wealth — it will simply attract other inmates, many of whom are obviously dishonest, or else they wouldn’t be in jail in the first place.” ... Mike Myers fans are eagerly awaiting his next creation, “Love Guru,” who the “Austin Powers” creator describes as “a Canadian who is raised in an ashram in India, becomes a guru and helps a hockey player who has fallen off the rails win the Stanley Cup.” ... When Dark Horizons asked Jerry Bruckheimer his feelings about not being a critics’ darling, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” producer quoted the Liz Phair song: “It’s nice to be liked, but it’s better by far to get paid.”
