Avril Lavigne says that Britney Spears’ woes are Britney Spears’ fault: the recently rehabbed singer just isn’t tough enough for show biz.
“What’s happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person,” the Sk8er Grrrl said, reports the London Sun. “If you want a piece of this business, you have to be able to deal with it. You can’t complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness, because that’s the job.”
The 22-year-old admits that she likes the booze, but seems to disapprove of Spears’ widely reported visit to rehab, because, Lavigne says, she can handle her liquor and “no one really gets to know” about her drinking exploits.

Carey spent time at the Frank Gonzalez orphanage in Mexico, according to Carey fan sites, which quote a Latin-oriented radio program called “America Showbiz.”

Notes from all over
Don Cheadle says there is not much quality work in Hollywood right now. “There is a dearth of good work in this town,” the “Reign Over Me” star tells the London Observer. “There is such a corporate mentality in Hollywood. Artists aren’t running the show. Haven’t been since the Seventies; the studios are in a way more resonant of the Fifties, but now there’s even more of that going for the greatest common denominator.” . . . Madonna is doing a cameo on “Nip/Tuck,” according to reports. . . . Speaking of Britney Spears (see lead item), Timbaland is blasting reports that he wants to work with the “Toxic” singer on a comeback. “That’s not true at all,” the rap and hip-hop producer tells Metro New York. “I don’t know. People just put anything out. You’re a publication person, you know how it works.”
