Spears' rehab stint is her second attempt

Family staged intervention with pop star on Valentine’s Day

Pop singer Britney Spears has checked into rehab, Access Hollywood can reveal.

Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph confirmed that the pop star is now a patient at a rehab facility.

“Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility,” Rudolph’s statement, released to Access, read. “We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time.”

Sources close to the singer told Access Spears checked into rehab yesterday, the same day a tearful Lynne Spears, Britney’s mother, told Access “we love our daughter.”

This is not Britney’s first time in rehab. Access Hollywood has learned that on Valentine’s Day, the Spears family staged an intervention with the pop star and shortly thereafter helped the pop singer check into a facility.

“She hasn’t been reasonable in a good while,” the source said.

Britney has been drinking and partying and she has suffered from years of “instabilities,” the source added.

After Spears shaved her hair off on Friday, Feb. 16, in Tarzana, the singer caught the attention of the world’s media. She also caught the attention of other celebrities like Ciara who suggested Britney’s recent actions may have risen from being a celebrity.

“I send out my prayers to her because I don’t think people really realize how much pressure there is that comes along with what we do. Some people deal with pressure differently,” Ciara told Access. “I don’t know exactly her reasons of doing that ... but whatever the case I know she’s been all over the place with press and media and they’ve been going hard on her so I’m just wishing her well.”

The source close to Spears however said “it’s not just stardom” at fault for the singer’s recent actions. Spears’ needs “deep healing with [her] family.”

Britney’s recent moves are of little concern to the pop princess’ parents. They just want her well, the source said and “will not give up, ever.” They have also asked those who know and love Spears, to “pray for help.”

And it appears help could come from Hollywood too. At least one member of the normally unforgiving late night talk-show circuit — host Craig Ferguson, refused to make jokes about Britney’s recent crop on his show last night.

“For me, comedy should have a certain amount of joy in it,” Ferguson said. “It should be about attacking the powerful — the politicians, the Trumps, the blowhards — going after them. We shouldn’t be attacking the vulnerable.”

Ferguson recalled his battle with alcoholism and said he worried Spears was having troubles of her own.

“Now I’m not saying Britney is alcoholic, I don’t know what she is — alcoholic or not — but she clearly needs help,” he said.

Other stars including Jamie Kennedy told Access Hollywood over the weekend, they were concerned for her well being.

“I think she’s going through a rough patch right now and I hope she gets with her family and just kind of decompress because there’s just a lot going on with her,” Kennedy said. “I wish her well.”
