Janet Jackson must be optimistic about sales of her new album; the singer is reportedly shopping for $30 million apartments.
The singer went apartment hunting recently and was interested in a 9,000-square-foot “crib” in a high-rise in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle. She was considering a move there with boyfriend/producer Jermaine Dupri, according to Upscale magazine.
If the deal goes through, it would be one of the highest prices ever paid for a New York apartment. It’s not a record-breaker, though: last year media mogul Rupert Murdoch paid $44 million for a 19-room apartment on Fifth Avenue.
While apartment hunting, Jackson reportedly confirmed rumors that she had briefly dated Matthew McConaughey, though she is very serious about Dupri and would like to have children with him — while denying buzz that the two are secretly married.

Is Simpson jumping the gun?
Jessica Simpson has been telling people that she’s making a movie with Luke Wilson — but Wilson’s people say she may be speaking too soon.
In September, Jessica lamented that she was “preparing myself” for the inevitable November tabloid covers that would link her to Wilson when she starts filming a role as his love interest in “Blonde Ambition.” And just last week, she told Jimmy Kimmel, “I’m going into doing another movie with Luke Wilson called ‘Blonde Ambition!’”
But a rep for Wilson told Star, “This project is in talks.” What’s more, a source told the tab, “Luke Wilson will never do a movie with Jessica Simpson.”
The insider suggests that the star’s manager dad Joe Simpson has been exaggerating prospects for the flick. “Joe is telling Jessica he’s getting big stars,” says the source. “Joe’s been working on it for months. It’ll end up having a bunch of nobodies if it happens. He was trying to get Meg Ryan to be the Sigourney Weaver character. It’s such a joke. He’s been sending out half-written scripts with personal letters to stars asking them to be in it.”
Notes from all over
Wynonna Judd is considering having another child with hubby Roach, or perhaps adopting one. “[My daughter] Grace says, ‘I’d like a black sister or brother’ — she’s around my singers, and most of them are black — and I say, ‘Be quiet and do your homework.’ But I do think I may adopt,” the 42-year-old told Ladies Home Journal. . . . Jude Law did a “Tom Cruise” and publicly declared his love for Sienna Miller. Just before the couple left a night club last week, Law opened his arms and started shouting, “I love you! I love you!” to a chuckling Miller, according London’s Daily Star, which noted, “It was almost a spoof of Tom Cruise gushing about his love for Katie Holmes on the Oprah show.” . . . Director Daniel Waters explained why he cast Winona Ryder in his forthcoming flick “Sex and Death 101.” “I needed a psychopath who was sweet, warm, and funny — and that’s basically Winona,” Waters told the new issue of Elle. “She’s like an Audrey Hepburn that’s been dropped off the table and has a crack in it.”
