The Quills, an initiative launched with the support of Reed Business Information and NBC, is an industry-qualified “consumers choice” awards program for books. The Quills celebrates the best adult and children's books of the year in 20 popular categories, including Book of the Year, plus an committee-selected award for best Book to Film.

MSNBC.com is proud to be the official voting partner for the Quills, and NBC is proud to be the official broadcast partner.

The Quills were established to:

  • Celebrate excellence in writing and publishing
  • Recognize and praise the writers & illustrators of wonderful books and great literature
  • Interest more consumers in acquiring books and reading
  • Act as a bellwether for literacy initiatives

Voting has ended for the Quills nominees. Nora Roberts, Maya Angelou and former Vice President Al Gore were among the winners of the Quills Awards.
