Recipe: Gold Rush (alcoholic)

For an aperitif or afternoon break

Ingredients
  • 3/4 oz. lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz. honey syrup
  • 2 oz. bourbon
Preparation

Shake and pour over 1 big ice chunk in a rocks glass.

Tips

Foods to go with:
The gold rush is tangy from the lemon juice, so a smoked hard cheese (such as gouda or cheddar) would go well. I would serve the cheese as slices alone or on top of a small baguette sliced with apples and grapes for an afternoon snack. BBQ potato wedges would taste great too.

Recipe: Number 10 Lemonade (alcoholic)

Ingredients
  • 2 oz. white rum
  • 1 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • 8 blueberries
Preparation

Shake and pour over ice in a high ball glass. Top with soda.

Tips

Foods to go with:
Thai beef salad or anything with BBQ sauce (such as ribs or buffalo wings).

Recipe: Pimms Rangoon

Ingredients
  • 2 oz. Pimms No.1
  • 2 bruised cucumbers
  • 1 orange wheel
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 1 strawberry
  • 1/2 oz. ginger syrup in high ball glass (ginger syrup=16 oz. of fresh ginger juice to 3 oz. simple syrup)
Preparation

Fill with Sprite. Top With ginger syrup.

Tips

Foods to go with:
Something salty and maybe deep-fried such as fried chicken or cheese straws. Also goes well with pan-seared dumplings with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce. This is another drink that your guests will love while they are snacking on appetizers.

Recipe: Strawberry Lemonade (non-alcoholic)

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 simple syrup
  • 3 strawberries
Preparation

Topped with soda.

Tips

Foods to go with:
Keep the fruit coming with an elaborate fruit salad or simple yet refreshing watermelon slices. This drink may also compliment tuna salad finger sandwiches with sweet relish dressing.

Recipe: Virgin New Bitty

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 oz. lime juice
  • 1 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • 2 bruised cucumber wheels
  • 4 mint leaves
Preparation

Muddle and top with club soda. Serve over cracked ice.

Tips

Foods to go with:
This drink is like a mojito, so it would be great to entertain with and to get you in the mood to party. It's great with a chicken or steak quesadilla with a little squeeze of lime on top.
