Is Britney Spears ditching California?

The preggers singer, convinced that the lifestyle in Malibu is hurting her battered marriage , is reportedly moving back to her home state of Louisiana, and has been upgrading her mother Lynne’s house so she can stay there.

“She wants to come home,” Harold Smith, mayor of Spears' hometown, Kentwood, said, according to In Touch Weekly. “She’s building more rooms for her growing family. She wants a nursery and some kids’ rooms.”

Spears is spending $200,000 on Lynne Spears’ house and is also looking to buy a second abode so that hubby Kevin Federline can stay there if his mother-in-law gets on his nerves. “He likes Lynne but doesn’t like her getting involved in their relationship,” a source told the mag.

Will Gwyneth Paltrow and her hubby be battling it out over positions on the music charts?

The “Proof” star — who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin — reportedly is looking to release an album. Paltrow has been writing and recording songs with William Orbit, who produced her buddy Madonna’s “Ray of Light” album, according to Brit paper The Sun.

Singing publicly isn’t entirely new to Paltrow; she belted out a few tunes in the not-well received flick “Duets.”

“We bumped into each other and got talking and it turned out she was keen to do some recording,” Orbit reportedly told a friend. “We’ve already done a track which will make a brilliant first single.”

Notes from all over
Looks like Nicole Richie has rebounded from her breakup with Adam “DJ A.M.” Goldstein. Richie “cuddled and looked very cozy” with Matt Dillon at the Chateau Marmont after they hooked up at a Dolce & Gabbana party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel last week, according to US Weekly. Richie’s rep couldn’t be reached for comment, but Dillon’s spokeswoman said, “Someone’s making up a story. He spoke to her for five minutes at an event, and that’s it.”  . . .  Star Jones might want to update her Web site a little more often. More than 24 hours after the co-host of “The View” announced that she had been fired from the show , her official site still told fans to “Enjoy ‘The View.’” . . . . Keith Richards will appear in the third “Pirates of the Caribbean” film, possibly as the father of Captain Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp’s character. Depp has said that his portrayal of Sparrow was inspired by the wrinkly rocker. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer tried to get Richards for "Dead Man's Chest," the sequel that’s about to open, but Richards — who recently bonked his head when he fell from a tree — couldn’t do it because his touring schedule got in the way. “I think we have worked out some dates,” Bruckheimer said, “as long as he doesn’t fall out of any more trees.”
