Are George Clooney and Teri Hatcher an item?

The two have been spotted looking cozy at various spots around Los Angeles, and are doing little to dispel buzz that they’re dating.

“If I went on a date with George Clooney I would not be talking about it,” Hatcher has been quoted as saying.

When The Scoop asked Clooney’s spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, to respond to reports that the hunky actor had gone on several dates with the “Desperate Housewives” star, he replied, “What is your definition of a date?”

He later came back and said, “I spoke with George and this is what he told me. ‘The rumor-reports, etc.’ that I’ve had ‘several dates with Teri Hatcher’ is not true, but if it was true, you’d be the first to know.’”

Another career for Federline?Kevin Federline reportedly wants to open a nightclub — but there’s a minor problem.

Britney Spears’ hubby’s singing career hasn’t exactly set the world on fire, and now he wants to go into the nightclub business, according to In Touch Weekly, which reports that there’s a bit of a hitch because he would need to get the financing from his wife, who’s none-too-happy with the idea of her party-loving spouse spending his time in a nightclub.

“Kevin wants to open up a club in Las Vegas,” an insider tells the mag.

But a pal says, “The last place Britney wants Kevin to be spending his nights is in a nightclub, even if he’s the owner.”

Still, Federline has supposedly persuaded his wife to talk to her buddies, the Maloof family, who own the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, about the possibility of his opening a nightclub there.

Notes from all overA Texas newsman raised some eyebrows — and some hackles — with some off-color jokes about “Brokeback Mountain” stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. While discussing movie awards, KENS-TV anchorman Chris Marrou of San Antonio quipped “Why didn’t they just give one of those guys from ‘Brokeback Mountain’ best actress?”  Executive News Director Kurt Davis called the comment “unscripted” and apologized “for whatever statement that may have offended any segment of our audience,” according to MySanAntonio.com.  . . . Beyoncé Knowles has agreed to appear at Carnival in Rio, according to our source in Brazil.  . . .Howard Stern called Rachel Hunter the C-word when she didn’t go on his show. The shock jock had some other choice words for the ex-wife of Rod Stewart, who declined to appear on his satellite show because she was worried that she would also be on camera on “Howard Stern on Demand” on and complained that she wasn’t “camera ready.” Stern joked that Hunter had put on weight lately and looked more like baseball legend Catfish Hunter these days.
