Posted to the cable network's website Thursday, her post, entitled "I Would Like to Apologize," offered an explanation to readers on why she hadn't posted many updates of late.

"Although writing is usually my favorite thing to do, I unfortunately have lost the ability to do so in an intelligent matter at this time," Foster, 51, wrote. "Most of you know I have been battling Lyme disease for the past three years. I wasted the first year trying to get diagnosed and spent the next two trying to find a cure. I have gone from the conventional long-term antibiotics to about every holistic protocol there is to offer. [Unfortunately], I was only able to get to about a 60 percent recovery until I relapsed in early December and have not been able to find my way back."

The post offers some rare insight on the reality star's Lyme disease battle, which has not been discussed in detail on this season of "Real Housewives."

Citing the disease's ability to damage the brain and nervous system, Foster said even the simplest tasks have become an ordeal.

"I have lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV, because I can't process information or any stimulation for that matter," she wrote. "It feels like someone came in and confiscated my brain and tied my hands behind my back to just watch and see life go by without me participating in it."

It's not the first time Foster has endured health problems. According to her own website, during the 1999 birth of her third biological child, she broke her back and "had a tough time recovering from a triple fusion and a terrible bout of depression."

In last week's blog post, Foster also expressed frustration over the lack of a Lyme disease cure, despite more than a century of study. "I will made it my life mission to figure this out, because nobody [deserves] to suffer this way in 2015," she wrote. "[Unfortunately], I am of no use to anyone or anything at this moment while weathering the storm."

Support from her family, friends and fans has helped her remain positive, she told readers of her blog.

"As a human being battling this everyday invisible disability, I ask you to join me in making a kind gesture to someone every day," she added, "because everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about, so your kindness goes a long way, and together we can make a real difference in someone's day."
