Meghan McCain's post came just days after it was announced that her father, Sen. John McCain, was diagnosed with brain cancer.

In a perfect world, we'd never take a single moment with our loved ones for granted. In reality, that isn't always easy.

In the case of political personality Meghan McCain — the 32-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, 80, who was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this month — her father's devastating diagnosis may have come as another reminder to make the most of every moment together.

After penning a heartfelt note about her father's cancer battle last week, Meghan shared a photo of the two hiking on Saturday morning in their home state of Arizona.

"Amazing hike with Dad @SenJohnMcCain this morning," Meghan wrote on Twitter. "Thank you all for your best wishes!"

The senator's outdoor adventures continued on Sunday.

The view looks pretty "amazing" in itself — but equally striking is the fact that the senator is up and moving just a week out of surgery and three days after his diagnosis was announced.

Then again ... this is a war hero, former presidential nominee and current political icon we're talking about.

“The cruelest enemy could not break him. The aggressions of political life could not bend him,” Meghan McCain wrote in a post on Wednesday. “So he is meeting this challenge as he has every other. Cancer may afflict him in many ways: But it will not make him surrender. Nothing ever has.”

The discovery of Sen. McCain's tumor was made after surgery to remove a blood clot from above his left eye. The senator and his family are weighing treatment options, the Mayo Clinic said in its statement.

We're glad to see the senator and his daughter are still finding the beauty in between the hard moments. Wishing all the best for this loving family.
