It's been a big week for one tiny Australian goat.
Frostie the Snow Goat melted hearts last week in a viral video that showed the disabled newborn learning to walk with the help of a wheelchair. Aside from becoming a worldwide star, the little guy has some more big news: He can now frolic without the help of his chair.
Edgar's Mission Farm Sanctuary, the Australian animal center that has been caring for Frostie since he arrived with a severe bacterial infection that left him disabled, posted the happy update on Facebook early Wednesday morning.
"Frostie is now able to not only stand on his own, but walk, skip and run on albeit wobbly little goatee legs," reads the Facebook post.
At only a few days old, Frostie originally came to Edgar's Mission with severe dehydration, a lice infestation and a case of "joint navel ill," an infection that spread through his bloodstream and into his back legs, leaving him unable to walk.
The sanctuary strapped him into a wheelchair to help keep him mobile enough to flush out the infection. A video of the tot taking his first steps with the wheelchair spread across the Internet and even made Kathie Lee and Hoda swoon.
"It breaks your heart," Kathie Lee said about the video. "It's so sweet."
While Frostie has not yet made a full recovery, Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary said his ability to walk without the wheelchair is a major reason to celebrate.
“In the days and weeks to follow, there will be much physiotherapy and some medications,” Wednesday’s post said. “However, amidst the once gloomy forest of Frostie’s world, we can now see bright skies ahead.”
