Fans of the Final Five were wondering why Gabby Douglas was missing at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sunday night, as the rest of the crew presented an award to Beyoncé.

"The fifth member of our team, Gabby Douglas is having medical issues and unfortunately couldn't make it tonight," teammate Simone Biles told the crowd.

As Kathie Lee revealed earlier this week, it was because Douglas had a mouth infection from a previous injury.

On Sunday night, Douglas tweeted a photo of herself recovering in bed:

And she recently shared more details about her condition in a recent Facebook post, "I had a complication from a prior injury that caused a cyst to grow on a bone in my mouth," she wrote. "Got it removed and (am) feeling much better now!"

"Thanks for all your concerns and prayers... and HUGE thank you to the doctors that have taken care of me these last four days," Douglas continued.

According to studies, the healing process for this type of medical issue is "uneventful," and because the mouth and jaws are made of so many different types of bones, muscles and tissues, they are more likely to develop abnormal growths than other parts of the body.

Let's hope Douglas recovers quickly so she can get back to celebrating the Final Five's success in Rio!
