Near-death stories are both hopeful and chilling. Some people whose hearts stopped during an emergency or surgery and who are then revived say they remember floating above their bodies, traveling through a tunnel towards a light and feeling the presence of God.
The accounts are remarkable and widespread — transcending age, language, culture and geography. But skeptics say they’re likely hallucinations or simply made up.
Next week, TODAY will taking a closer look at the near-death phenomenon with our two-day series, "Do You Believe?"
We want to know what you think. Take the polls below and tell us whether you believe in an afterlife, and if you or a loved one have ever had a near-death experience.
