Yoga can be intimidating, but all it takes is two minutes and three simple poses to help boost your energy, reboot your day, and make your move. Get all the right apparel at Kohl’s with their new exclusive line of Gaiam products. Gaiam’s yoga wear lets you hold each pose without sacrificing comfort and style. Yoga instructors and Gaiam Yoga Ambassadors Masumi Goldman and Laura Kasperzak (Two Fit Moms) shared the three essential poses they include in their daily routine.

Downward Facing Dog.

You’ve been lifting, cleaning, bending – and your back is stiff. The Two Fit Moms have the pose for you: Downward Dog. “You look like an upside letter V -- where your hands and feet are planted on the ground,” says Masumi. She says to let go of the picture perfect version of Downward Dog you may have seen in in the past. “It doesn’t need to look [perfect]. It’s okay if your knees are bent to support your back, and it’s okay if your heels aren’t down to the floor.” With each breath, find your comfort zone and push your heels a little closer to the ground. Increase blood flow, loosen your back.

Seated Forward Pose.

Known as Paschimottanasana (PASH-ee-moh-tan-AHS-anna), this pose helps loosen the hamstrings. “Coming from a background of being in a cubicle all day, my hamstrings would always be tight. This is an easy way to stretch that out,” says Laura of Two Fit Moms. Focus on lengthening the spine. Breathe deep into the pose, but be mindful of rounding your lower back. When you feel the stretch in the back of your legs, that’s when you’re in the sweet spot. Hold the stretch for 5 deep breaths, with the inhale and exhale lasting about 3 seconds each.

Camel.

Time to open up your chest and the whole front body. “Maybe you’re hunched over your phone all day, this pose reverses that motion,” says Laura. The key to Camel is to lift your chest up towards the sky, roll your shoulders away from your ears, and push your chest and hips forward. Hold the stretch for 5 deep breaths, feeling the tension and extending it for 3 seconds on the inhale and exhale. Masumi puts this in her morning route and notes, “Camel is a way of undoing the bad that we do all day long with our electronics.”
