Greek yogurt fans, take note: Whole Foods has announced that it will stop selling the popular Chobani brand of yogurt by early 2014.
Why? The grocer says it wants to make room on shelves for more niche and organic options, including those free of GMOs (genetically modified organisms), according to ABC News.
The move comes in response to Chobani's practice of using milk from cows that have been fed with GMO feed. Many farmers raise their livestock on genetically-modified crops (like soybeans and corn) that have been engineered to be hardier, tastier, disease-resistant and easier to grow.
It's been a tough year for the yogurt company. In September, Chobani pulled their product from shelves after consumers reported a funny smell and claimed they were getting sick.
