Cookbook author and blogger Shay Shull stops by TODAY Food to cook a few of her favorite recipes from her new book, Mix-and-Match Mama Kids in the Kitchen: Crazy-Fun Recipes to Make Memories Together.
She demonstrates how to make a patriotic red, white and blueberry pie and bite-size turkey sausage corn dogs.
For Independence Day — our favorite summer holiday — we always like a dessert with a little red, white and blue, or in this case, blueberry. An easy, no-bake pudding pie is almost simple enough for kids to make on their own! From the beginning to end, this recipe is perfect for summertime fun for kids in the kitchen.
Every kid loves a hot dog for lunch, and these are even better than regular hot dogs! We buy our favorite turkey sausages, cut them into bite-sized pieces, dip them in cornbread batter (kids love the dipping part!) and bake them up. You can make the plate a little more colorful and nutritious by adding some spinach leaves and orange slices.
