Vanilla has been the victim of a boring smear campaign ... perhaps chocolate is secretly behind it.

Sunday is National Vanilla Pudding Day!  In honor of this day, let's get one thing straight: It's good to be vanilla.

Vanilla has been getting some bad press in recent years. UrbanDictionary.com (the hip Hyde to Dictionary.com's proper Jekyll) defined vanilla as: Unexciting, normal, conventional, boring. Its lameness trajectory has come to mirror Charlie Sheen's crazy trajectory.

Why is it so uncool to be vanilla?  Vanilla is delicious.  Vanilla is comforting.  Vanilla plays well with others.  So let's turn over a new leaf, and be kinder to vanilla flavors and people alike.  Next time you're tempted to cattily say, "Oh, she's so vanilla," think again, grab a pudding pack, and relax.  Maybe she's not so bad after all.
