Coming in November, a new cookbook will teach you how to tie your chicken up and turn it Grey.
"Fifty Shades of Chicken," a parody cookbook written under a pseudonym by an anonymous food industry professional and inspired by the erotic novel, will hit kitchens on Nov. 13.
"The recipe and headnotes follow a chef and his chicken on an emotional journey very much like the original trilogy," the anonymous author told People.com in an email. "You start with an overbearing cook and a pigheaded chicken but by the end they're spanking and tying each other up like soul mates. There's a bit of Christian and Anastasia Steele in every dish."
Written under the pseudonym F.L. Fowler and to be published by Clarkson Potter, the book features parody photos of tied-up chicken breasts and recipes like “Mustard-Spanked Chicken,” “Dripping Thighs,’’ and “Bacon-Bound Wings,” jokingly inspired by the erotic scenarios enjoyed by Christian Grey in the best-selling series.
“Like so many others, Fifty Shades of Grey resonated for me," the author wrote. "It evoked something I'd never been able to express. Then one day as I was tying up the ankles of a chicken for roasting, I realized why some of the scenes in the book were so strikingly familiar. It turns out I've been practicing BDSM for years — but with poultry."
"Who can resist sex and food?'' a spokesperson for publisher Clarkson Potter said. "The manuscript had us howling and asking for more."
The author prizes his or her anonymity in detailing the dark side of dinner.
"I've been developing recipes for years,’’ the author wrote to People.com. “But this is the first time I've ever delved into this dark, forbidden side of poultry preparation. And when it comes to sexing up a family dinner, a little privacy can be a good thing."
The official website for the book urges potential readers to “Dominate Dinner.’’
“If 'Fifty Shades of Grey' left you hungry and lusting for more (more, more!), then sink your teeth into this naughty tale of a young, free-range, and very fresh chicken who, like Anastasia Steele, finds herself at the mercy of a dominating man; in this case, a kinky and very ravenous chef,’’ the book’s site reads.
“These fifty chicken recipes, each more seductive than the last, will make every dinner a turn-on.’’
Scott Stump prefers his chicken to be grilled before it's whipped and tied up.
