The Bronx Zoo cobra is back!
Or at least, her Twitter alter ego is. And she's super mad at Gordon Ramsay, who recently ate a beating cobra heart.
The British chef was filming an episode of his TV show "Gordon’s Great Escape" in Vietnam when he ate the fresh heart of a 6-foot-long cobra. According to The Telegraph, the snake was picked from a glass tank and set on a table where it was split open so that Ramsay’s hosts could rip out its heart and put in a liquid-filled glass, where it was seen still beating. Cobra heart supposedly enhances male virility and sexual performance, kind of like the world’s least appetizing all-natural Viagra substitute.
Now, while many people are probably just pleased it wasn’t one of Ramsay’s subordinates who got their beating heart eaten in front of them, many animal-rights groups were outraged over the incident. According to The Telegraph, the British Herpetological Society and Animal Aid said, “His macho posturing, and this disgusting scene in particular, suggests he is insecure in his masculinity.” Meow! Or hiss, as the case may be.
The ever-popular Twitter feed @BronxZoosCobra, which boasts 241,831 followers, then Tweeted the menacing message, “When I get outta here …"
Mia the cobra can at least be happy that Gordon Ramsay didn’t enjoy himself. The foul-mouthed chef reportedly said, “I think I'm going to become vegetarian” after eating the heart along with a glass of bile, curried guts, chopped snakeskin and fried bones.
