Good Stuff Eatery's "Prez Obama Burger"

Yesterday, the president took his staff to this Capitol Hill spot, where he was photographed with a burger, fries and salad. The restaurant, owned by former “Top Chef” contender Spike Mendelsohn, puts applewood bacon, onion marmalade, Roquefort cheese and horseradish on the “Prez Obama Burger.” Here’s the recipe if you’re inspired to make your own.

The BLT Steak Burger

In April, food website Eater issued a challenge to three D.C. chefs: Create the ultimate Obama-inspired burger. Judges Spike Mendelsohn and Capital Spice blogger Mike Bober picked the winner -- the BLT Steak Burger. It features Kobe beef shirt steak hand-chopped into patties, topped with Wisconsin cheddar, burnt tomato ketchup, bacon and fresh ramp mustard all on a sesame seed bun, which was brushed with fresh-cured whipped lardo.

Ted's Montana Grill's Barack Obama Burger

The Ted Turned-owned chain once offered a Barack Obama Burger, a special to honor the president's visit to Montana in 2009. It was a one-off, but you can recreate it by ordering a bison meat burger with American, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, along with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and a side of spicy mustard.

Five Guys' Obama-style burger

It's one of the president's well-known favorite burger joints, with locations around the country. If you want your burger Obama-style, you’ll order a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, jalapeno peppers and mustard – hold the ketchup, please.

M Street's Barack Obama Pizza Burger

M Street Bar & Grill in Washington D.C. introduces pizza flavor to the party.  The “Barack Obama Pizza Burger” features Angus beef patties, marinara sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil all on a garlic-buttered ciabatta roll. Want to make your own? Get the recipe here.

Ray's Hell Burger's controversial version

Want to make a splash? Try the burger that launched a thousand commentators. When Obama ate at Ray’s Hell Burger in Arlington, Va., in 2009, he apparently engaged in some burger blasphemy. He ordered his burger medium-well, topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and Dijon mustard. While some conservatives were upset by the bourgeois nature of his mustard choice, foodies were horrified by the overcooked patty.

Z-Burger's deal

The Washington, D.C. eatery is offering 50-cent burgers and shakes if you say “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to the cashier. Can’t get to D.C. in time? Just keep it simple and top the burger of your choosing with mustard.
