Zach Galifianakis on 'Hangover' role: Unfortunately, it's easy for me to play

The party-gone-wrong is about to get started again. Next week "The Hangover Part III" hits theaters, and according to star Zach Galifianakis, the third time really was a charm.

"You know, I think it's hard to sustain for a third movie," the actor admitted during a Thursday morning visit to TODAY. "You wonder if the crowd's going to be interested in it, but I think … ultimately, I think it turned out really great. I'm really happy with it."

And why wouldn't he be? Once again, Galifianakis takes on the role of the all-important troublemaker, Alan.

"I always think it's really funny when people are not self-aware," Galifianakis explained. "The fact that Alan is so stupid that he can say anything -- that it doesn't even have to make sense -- is really fun."

Fun and easy.

"Unfortunately, it's really easy for me to play," he deadpanned. "I don't know what that's about."

But Galifianakis wasn't just visiting TODAY to talk about his big-screen work. He was also on a quest for love -- or so it seemed when he crashed Martha Stewart's love-match segment.

"Martha and I actually met once, at a macramé convention," he smiled.

Alas, Stewart shot him down.

"I watched your performance in your last very big blockbuster movie," she said, likely referring to "The Hangover Part II." "I don't think I would choose you."

Too bad!

"The Hangover Part III," billed as "the epic finale to 'The Hangover' trilogy," opens in theaters nationwide May 24.
