The “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” cast shakeups continue!

As fans learned in May, star Christopher Meloni won’t return for the 13th season of the show. And while Meloni’s on-screen partner, Mariska Hargitay, will be back, she plans to return in a greatly reduced capacity. Now comes the news that there’s yet another familiar face viewers won’t see around the 16th Precinct in the fall — actor B.D Wong.

Wong, who’s played Dr. George Huang on the procedural crime staple since 2001, made the announcement on Twitter during the USA Network’s Sunday “WWBDWD?" (What would B.D. Wong do?) marathon.

“I actually do not return for season 13 of (‘SVU),” he wrote in response to a fan’s tweet. “I am jumping to (‘Awake’)! It's awesome!”

“Awake” is a highly-anticipated NBC police drama that focuses on the parallel lives of one detective. Wong plays a pivotal role as Dr. Lee — and it doesn’t look like the doctor will have time to pull double duty.

“Don’t know if or when I'll be back (to ‘SVU’),” Wong answered another Twitter follower. “It was amazing to have such a cool job for 11 years and to be a real NY Actor.”

This "Awake" sneak peek offers a brief glimpse at Wong in his new role.

So, “SVU” fans, are you disappointed to learn that another actor is leaving the show? With Meloni and Wong gone, and Hargitay planning only a part-time return, will you still watch? Tell us on our Facebook page!
