Thanks to Salma Hayek, Gregory Maguire’s bestselling book “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” will soon come to the small screen.

According to TV Line’s Michael Ausiello, the actress-producer is working with ABC to develop an eight-hour miniseries based on the novel. There’s a chance Hayek might even play a supporting on-screen part in the production.

Erik Jendresen, of “Band of Brothers” fame, is writing the adaptation, which, as fans of the musical version of “Wicked” should note, will be entirely song-free.

Not that the Broadway crowd should be concerned. A big-screen take on the musical is already in the works with Universal, so there's something on the way for all Oz-lovers.
